Emergency Lighting — Design, Install & Testing

When the power fails, your people need to find the exit. Emergency lighting is non-negotiable.

Overview

Emergency lighting is required wherever artificial lighting is provided in a workplace. We design, install and certify self-contained and central battery systems, including monthly function tests and an annual full-duration discharge test — 3 hours on most systems.

What we do

  • Lux-level design to BS EN 1838 (escape route 1 lux min on centreline).
  • Self-contained, central battery and self-test addressable systems.
  • Annual full-duration discharge testing (typically 3 hours) with certified report.
  • Photoluminescent and active exit signage to ISO 7010.

Why this matters

The Fire Safety Order requires emergency routes and exits to be illuminated. Many older buildings still rely on degraded batteries that will not last the 3-hour duration mandated by BS 5266.

Frequently asked questions

A monthly short-duration function test, and a full-duration discharge test annually — 3 hours on most systems.
